It's so stupid you know...
13 and 14 year olds having to pick the lessons they want to do for GCSEs. Hardly anybody knows what they want to do when they leave school, and the most common answer is 'an actor/actress' or 'a vet'. It also doesn't help that Heads of Years (HoY) push you out of good options, to easy, 'toiletpaper' subjects, such as Business studies, Sociology and Leisure & Tourism.
I was not allowed to do PE because there wasn't a 100% chance I was going to get an A. I was told that it's not about what you get A's in, it's about getting A's in something.
But that's not helpful for future jobs...
It's no good taking Drama, Art and Music if you want to be a doctor, You need to take all 3 Sciences, History and A language!
Many people are getting pushed away from the harder subjects they need, simply because it's not 100% guaranteed they will get an A.
You're encouraged to take easier subjects not for your benefit, but to make the school look good on the results league tables.
To be honest,
The GCSE course option system is a load of bollocks.
